The Alloway Artic Challenge is winter camp held annual on the third weekend in February (the Louis Reil long weekend in Manitoba). The camp is geared for Venture and Rover Scouts who want to participate in a winter camping experience that will give them the opporunity to plan and organize a wilderness winter camp.
Hike, snowshoe or ski 2.75km from the western shore of the Big Whiteshell Lake across to the Alloway Wilderness Reserve
Transport by backpack, sled or other non-motorized transportation all your equipment, food and supplies to the camp
Construct a winter shelter and stay two nights at the Alloway Wilderness Reserve while practicing "Leave-No-Trace" principles
Plan, organize and demostrate a winter survival or camping skill lasting at least 1 hour
Prepare a report describing your experience as set out in the challenge self-evalutaion form
